This was really a beautiful day at Caterpillar in Mossville. We had the usual early start with a driver's meeting at 9:00 with track going hot about 9:15. We had 25 drivers come out for the day. We love having big groups of people come out. Some of them being new to the club and enjoy our racing program. Our Race Director and Assistant Race director set up quite an amazing course. They used two of the parking lots and made one pretty long autocross that was running about a full minute. Full of some nice corners and a couple of slaloms. Competition was fierce in the morning with the biggest issue was tires sliding a bit. Quite a nice assortment of cones that were hit with 205 total for everyone with John Gastman winning the Cone King award for the day with 19. We had 6 runs in the morning with 6 groups. About 11:30 we took a break for some lunch provided by the club from Firehouse Subs, salad, chips, cookies, soda, water and fruit. After everyone wa finished with lunch the track went hot again with each of the 6 groups getting 7 more runs. We finished around 3:00 and while the scores were being tallied and the tents and everything else being packed up a few of us did some open lapping. Then on to the awards for each class with a couple of new members receiving a trophy. Always great to see the newbies winning. After all the trophy's were awarded we took a group photo and headed towards home. Several folks decided to stop in Toluca for dinner at one of the clubs favorite restaurants Mona's. After dinner and some good clean smack talk everyone started for home unfortunately in the rain but we were glad that unlike last year the rain decided to wait till we were all done for the day.
