Well another Winterfest is over and in the books. It was our 25th anniversary of the club and the best Winterfest yet. We started out with folks arriving around 5:00 with cocktails starting at 5:30 and going till 7:00. During the cocktail time you were able to socialize with old and new viper friends, watch the video that was showing photos and video from the 2018 events, check out Vipers on display, and all the items for the raffle and silent auction. There were tons of awesome raffle prizes from designer purses to apple iPad to floor jacks, cool garage art, air compressor, apple watch, Tiffany bracelet, escort radar detector, impact wrench and many more items. The silent auction also had some amazing items like, Milwaukee toolbox and complete set of Viper tires. Unbelievable the stuff that was won.
After the cocktail time Gary Grube our Vice President introduced our President Rob Buckman. Rob talked about the awesome member gift, which was a Viper rolling bag, the new Club Handbook, Membership Directory and the new website. Then Gary showed an 8 minute video hi-lighting the past 25 years of the club. During dinner Rob, Mark, Matt and Gary drew the raffle tickets for all the raffle items. After dinner we had our program with the recognition of officers, then our racing director Mark Schumann announced the Triple crown winner Jeremy Walker, triple cross winner Jimmy Walker and longest day winner Jimmy Walker along with Rookie driver of the year Shawn Rockwell and Rookie member of the year Rob Stenzby. Congratulations to all! Next our cruise director Bonnie Buckman gave us a recap of 2018 cruises and talked about the upcoming season of cruising. Next our President Rob and membership director Kim Peterson presented the Spirit Awards to Joe Bussie, Vince Cannestra, Ron Friedman, Nancy and Larry Friend, John Gastman, Jay Karson, Paul Krant, Dave Livengood, Matt Shutte and Jeremy Walker. Next was the introduction of Herb "The Grail Keeper" Helberg who shared with us a few memories, drew a ticket for a special prize that Herb donated and Larry and Nancy Friend who are two of the Founding Members of our club regaled us with a few memories too.
Next we had Dennis Rocke from Roanoke Motors draw the winning ticket for the TV that they donated to our raffle and the winner was Steve Doud. Then we had the drawing for the centerpieces and President Rob had a few closing remarks with some thank you for the board and member volunteers that help set up and take down the event. Rob thanked Larry, Nancy and Herb for the memories they shared. Then the drawing for the 50/50 with Paul Lothian as winner.
It was a wonderful evening for all and a great way to get ready for the 2019 season.
