What a great day we had on the Celebration Belle, a Mississippi River Cruise! The weather was perfect! 21 members and 11 cars joined us as we started out our day by meeting at Utica, IL and then headed west down I-80 to Moline, IL.
We arrived at the Celebration Belle, a paddle boat, that we cruised down the Mississippi. We had a nice lunch as we started our journey and the captain narrated the sights along the way. After lunch, several of us ventured out to the top deck where it was breezy and cool. We passed by an arsenal which is still operating and learned the history from the captain. He also pointed out several older homes and the history of the homes. Our cruise was 2hours long and once we docked and walked off the boat, we headed towards the Quad City Botanical Gardens. What a nice place to walk around and view all of the plants both in doors and out. There was a small water stream where several kids were playing in and a wedding had just ended when we got there too. After our walk through the Gardens we headed to a local old time ice cream parlour for a cool treat and then everyone said our good-byes and headed towards home.
This was a relaxing cruise to Moline and everyone had a great time visiting with some Viper friends we hadn't seen in a while.
Next event is our annual picnic, Sunday, August 28. Hope you will be able to make it to the picnic.
Until the next event.....
