Another awesome Longest Day event with Gingerman Raceway and Wings Stadium for the autoross part of the weekend. We started Friday at Gingerman in South Haven, Michigan with folks arriving around 7:30 to unload trailers and get ready for the drivers meeting at 8:30 with the track going hot at 9:00. We had around 18 drivers with 4 Run groups. Two advanced, one intermediate and one Rookie groups. Each group had an opportunity to run in five 20 minute sessions. We also had a special guest Ralph Gilles come out and run with us. Ralph is an awesome driver and fun to watch. We ran most of the day with a break for lunch and finishing up about 4:00 with trophies being awarded.
After awards we headed off to Kalamazoo, Michigan where Wings is located checked into the hotel and most all went out for a nice dinner together.
The next morning our Race Director, Assistant Race Director and a crew of a few arrived early to set up the autocross event. The Driver's meeting was 8:30 with the track going hot at 9:00.There were about 18 drivers including our special drivers both Ralph and Doris Gilles. Everyone was able to get their fill of runs. All drivers were able to get in 24 runs with taking a break for VOA of IL sponsored lunch. Some of our drivers volunteered to give some of the young spectators a ride around the track. We ended the day about 2:30 with awarding trophies at 3:00. We want to thank Ralph and Doris for coming out. It was great to see them again. Congratulations to Jimmy Walker for winning the Longest Day event for 2020.
