Another great Longest Day is in the books. We started off with folks arriving on Thursday August 15th many going out for dinner and to the famous Sherman's afterwards for too much ice cream. To bed early and up early on Friday and heading to Gingerman Raceway for the day of awesome Road Course. Drivers meeting at 8:30 with the track going hot at 9:00. We had a bit a a smaller than usual crowd but all that were there were able to get tons of track time for their enjoyment. We ran until 3:00 when we then tabulated the results and awarded trophies.
After trophies we loaded up the trailers and headed to South Bend, IN where the second half of our longest day event would take place. Everyone got together for dinner that evening for enjoyable conversation and food. After dinner back to the hotel for a good nights sleep to get up early the next day for the autocross part of the longest day. Arriving at Tire Rack around 7:30 with a drivers meeting at 8:00 and track going hot about 8:30. We added a couple more folks that were not at the road course even one of our friends from Michigan joined us for the fun. We ended up getting in about 18 runs around the rain that popped up on us and a nice lunch provided by the club thanks to our great Sponsors. At the end of the day scores were tallied and trophies awarded with Shawn Rockwell having the fasted time of the day and Jim Walker winning the Longest Day trophy. It was a great weekend for all.
